In the Name of Allah,
the Most Gracious, the most Merciful.
Rights of the Beloved
The Beloved has two rights over those that love Him.
* To do that which the Beloved has commanded.
* To not only abstain from all such acts which displease Him
but not even to go anywhere near them.
One who has no concern over these two aspects has not perfected his
love yet. This is the ultimate yard measure by which one tests one's
love for Allah. Thus, if one acts upon all such injunctions of the Truly
Beloved, Allah Ta'ala, but does not abstain from those prohibitions
which displease Him, he has not attained the perfect love of Allah as
yet.
AAFIYAT
What is Aafiyat? We ask Allah day and night for Aafiyat but are yet
unaware of its reallity. Allah Ta'ala's most beloved Messengerصلى الله عليه وسلم
instructed Siddeeq-e-Akbar Hazrat Abu Bakrرضى الله عنه to implore Allah
Ta'ala for, Afwu and Aafiyat (عفو اور عافيت) and then said,
(Tirmidhi, vol.2, pg.196)
''No individual, after Imaan, has been granted a greater bounty
than Aafiyat.''
Therefore, one should endeavour to ascertain the meaning of such an
immense bounty. The common man understands Aafiyat to mean living
in an air-conditioned home along with the paraphernalia of comfort and
pleasure, delicious foods and drinks. The reality of Aafiyat has been
expounded upon by Mulla Ali Qari in he commentary of Mishkaat entitled
Mirqaat wherein he explains that Aafiyat is possessed by that individual
whose:
''Deen is free from fitnah.''
One whose Deen is free from such acts which warrant the wrath and
displeasure of Allah. What is the second ingredient of Aafiyat? Take
heed of that as well, for without it, Aafiyat will be incomplete.
''And for one's body to be free of severe illnesses and
severe intense toil.''
Thus, one's Deen has to be free of trials and tribulations, of disobedience
and harm, and one's body has to be free of severe illnesses and intense toil.
Seeking security from intense toil has also been mentioned. This is what
After which,
been mentioned. Therefore, what is meant by, معافات ? Mulla Ali Qari explains,
معافات to mean :
"That, Allah Ta'ala keep one safe from the oppression of people.''
''And they are kept safe, from your oppression.''
(Mirqaat, Vol.5, pg. 245)
Aafiyat is necessary from both ends and not that one has become a Buzrug
but keeps on causing inconvenience to others while we are an exception in
that, others should neither inconvenience nor trouble us. Each one of us
needs to be alert to the fact that we do not become a source of inconvenience
or trouble to anyone else at all.
