The Three Commentaries of اَنْتَ مَولانَا
Allamah Aaloosi presents three commentaries of اَنْتَ مَولانَا which are:
اَنْتَ سَيِّدُنَا - ''You are our Lord.''
وَمَالِكُنَا - ''You are our Master.''
وَمُتَوَلِّى اُمُورِنَا - ''And You are the Trustee of our affairs.''
Because there was a need for the topic to be discussed today, it was undertaken.
There are a few other things that need to be asked of Allah Ta'ala the explanation
of which will take but a short while. The Muhadditheen have mentioned that there
are three words which have no equivalent in the Arabic language :
Naseehat (Advice)
Falaah (Success)
Aafiyat (Safety- Peace)
It appears in a narration mentioned in Mishkaat.
اَلدِّينُ اَلنَّصِيحَةُ
Deen (Religion) is advice.'' Mishkhaat
This means developing the fervour for wishing well to every creation of Allah
Ta'ala in existence. That one begins imploring Allah for His Mercy on behalf of
every form of existent creation with words such as, '' O Allah! Convert the Ahl-
e-Kufr, those without belief into Ahl-e-Imaan, into those who posses belief.
Convert the Ahl-e-Imaan, into Ahl-e-Taqwa, into those who abstain from Your
disobedience. Convert the Ahl-e-Balaa, those who are in a state of trial and
tribulation into ahl-e-Aafiyat, into those who are in a state to peace and security.
Those who are Ahl-e-Mardh, who are ill into those who are Ahl-e-Sihat, who are
healthy. Cause Your Mercy to descend even on the ants as well as the fish.''
Hakeem ul Ummat Moulana Thanwiرحمة الله عليه explains, ''There was a period
in which I used to make Dua for the entire creation.''
Definition of Naseehat
The Muhadditheen have defined Naseehat as wishing well to the entire creation
because of their connection with Allah Ta'ala. To develop a connection with the
creation on the basis of their being the creation of Allah Ta'ala and therefore wish
them well and to have love for them. This is the gist of Naseehat. When this
connection is established, the respect and honour of each and every Mu'min
becomes entrenched in the heart.
Manifestation of connection with Allah
Through interaction with fellow creation
Hazart Hakeem-ul-Ummatرحمة الله عليه explain, ''The greatest manifestation
of an individual's connection with Allah is displayed through his interaction,
through the way he deals with fellow creation. This is what elucidate whether
a person is a Saheb-e-Nisbat or not. One who is a Saheb-e-Nisbat has within
the depths of his heart, respect and honour for every Mu'min and he considers
himself as lower and meaner than every one else. He subsequently wishes well
for every aspect of every creation.'' We beseech Allah Ta'ala to grant all of us
this ability to wish nothing but well for His entire creation.
What is Success
What is meant by Falaah, by success? There is no word in the Arabic language
as concise as this. The promise of Talaah has been made at numerous locations
in the Qur'an-e-Majeed. One such occasion of mention is along with Zikrullah :
وَذْكُرواللهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
''And remember Allah excessively so that you
may be among the successful.''
The author of 'jalaalayn' a commentry of the Qur'an-e-Majeed has defined تُفْلِحُونَ as:
اى تَفُوزُونَ فِى الدُّنْيَا وَلْاخِرَةِ
(Jalaalayn - pg. 28)
''That is, success in the world as well as in the hereafter.''
The meaning of Falaah is,
جَمِيعُ خَيرِ الدُّنْيَا وَالاخِرَةِ
(Jalaalyn -pg.28)
''The combination of goodness in the world and the hereafter.''
Such a person to whom Allah Ta'ala has granted Falaah, acquires all goodness
pertaining to Deen and Dunya, to his religion as well as his every-day life,
which is dependant on Zikrullah. The essence of Zikrullah is, not to be
involved in any form of disobsdience to Allah Ta'ala. This is the ultimate
form of Zikr.
Consider an individual who is drinking chicken soup, who is taking all
forms of nutritious foods and vitamin supplements but does not abstain
from taking poison at the same time. Tell me, will these nutritious foods,
these vitamins benefit him at all?
This clarifies the point that along with tonics and the most nutritious of
foods, one also has to abstain from poison. In a like manner, the benefits
of Zikrullah and Nawaafil are dependant on abstaining from the poison of
sin. This is why the Mufassireen have noted that the greatest form of Zikr
is abstaining from disobedience to Allah Ta'ala.
