Virtues of Taubah Part 6

In the Name of Allah,
the Most Gracious, the most Merciful.

Reality of Mujaahadah

What does this exertion in the path of Allah entail? The Mufassireen,
the commentators of the Qur'an have explained the verse,
ِAs for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause)
                                   Surah 29 Al-'Ankabut  : 69

In the following manner :
1) اَلَّذِينَ اخْتَارُوا الْمَشَقَّةَ فِى ابْتِغَاءِ مَرَضَا تِنَا وَنُصْرَةِ دِيْنِناَ
Those who bear difficulties in order to please Us, in assisting
      and spreading Our Deen.

Those who bear difficulties in obeying My commands. Immaterial
of what happens, '' We will obey Your commands.''

  Urdu poem :
Whether my desires are liquified to blood or
regrets are  dashed to the ground ...
This heart now, has to be made worthy of you.

Such people tolerate every form of difficulty in order to  obey the commands
of Allah. Allah Ta'ala grants them the strength to do so on the basis of the love
they have for Him. Consider the fact that the rays of the sun are beating down
intensely upon this plain of Arafat, perspiration is flowing incessantly, but those
who have been granted within their hearts the love of Allah by Him, are intoxi-
cated even under such circumstances. They are overjoyed at this perspiration
and express thanks for the fact that they are shedding some sweat in the path
of Allah where as the Sahaabah shed their blood. Tell me, what happened in
the battle of Uhud? Gratitude is due to Allah for allowing our sweat to be shed
so that there is at least some small resemblance to them and it will be but His
Kindness and Favour that He, on this, allows our names to be recorded with
the martyrs.

3) And the third Tafseer of Mujaahada is that :
وَالَّذِيْنَ اخْتَارُوْ الْمَشَقَّةَ فِى االاِنْتِهَاءِ عَنْ مَنَا هِيْنَا
Those who tolerate every form of difficulty in abstaining
from Our prohibitions.

Mushaahadha Proportionate to Mujaahadah

If someone were to say, ''Sir! It is very hard to guard one's gaze, to abstain
from backbiting and to leave every other sin from my life. ''It is such difficulty
which has to be tolerated, for if there is no Mujaahadah, on what basis will
there be Mushaahadah?

Witnessing in proportion to effort.

The more an individual endeavours, the more intense his witnessing of
the manifestation and Countenance of Allah will be.This is the ultimate
sign of love for Allah, for such a person resolves to give up every single
sin. ''Regardless of whether I live or die in the process, I will not disobey
my Allah.'' The worst that can happen in giving up sin is death and such a
person is even prepared for that. One should therefore try to give up every
sin possible because this is the proof of one's love for Allah Ta'ala.
