A Checklist for Ramadhan 5

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
In the Name of Allah,
the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

I'thikaaf

Abu Hurairah رضى الله عنه says that Rasoolullah
صلى الله عليه وسلم retired to the masjid for ten days
every year in the month of Ramadhan, but in the
last year of his life he retired to the masjid for
twenty days.
                                       (bukhari)

Abdullah bin Abbas رضى الله عنهما reports,
''The occasion is still fresh in my mind when
I heard the esteemed inmate of this tomb
صلى الله عليه وسلم say, ''Whoever sets forth in
the way of settling a necessary affair on behalf
of his brother, that service shall be better for
him than to perform I'thikaaf for 10 years ; and
whosoever performs I'thikaaf a day (thereby
seeking the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala) ; Allah will
spread 3 trenches between him and the fire of
Hell, the width of each trench being greater than
the distance between Heaven and the Earth.''
                                                     (Tabarani)

Laylathul Qadr

Abu Hurairah reports that Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم
said, ''Whoever stands in prayers and worships
on the Night of Power, with complete faith and
with sincere hope of gaining reward, all his previous
sins are forgiven.''
                                         (Bukhari & Muslim)

Anas رضى الله عنه reports, ''Once when Ramadhan
commenced, the Messenger of Allah  صلى الله عليه وسلم
said, 'Verily, a month has dawned over you wherein
lies a night better than a thousand months. Whoever
misses such a night has indeed been deprived of all
that is good ; and none is deprived of it, except he
who is really unfortunate.
                                                 (Ibn Majah)

A'ishah رضى الله عنها reports that Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم
said, ''Seek Laylatul Qadr among the odd numbered
nights of the last 10 days of the month of Ramadhan.''
                                                    (Al-Bukhari)

Eve of Eid ( Night before Eid )

Abu Umamah رضى الله عنه relates from Rasoolullah
صلى الله عليه وسلم , ''A person who stays awake on the
two nights of Eid (Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha) with the
expectation of reward, then his heart will not die on the
Day when people's hearts will die (Day of Qiyamah).''
                                                       (Ibn Majah)

Note : According to some Ulema says any part of the
night is sufficient, sleep less be awake more.
