This is a very important hadith as it teaches us basic pillars of deen,
it's articles and ture Imaan. Allah Ta'ala sent down Angel Jibriel عليه السلم
to teach and instruct us on our deen. This is why this hadith is known
as '' Hadith-e-Jibriel''.
In this hadith the Ulamah say we also learn the etiquettes of a student.
a) that a student of deen should be young (this we understand
through the words ''jet black hair'') because memorizing is easy,
b) It is recommended for the boys to wear white,
c) to sitting in the thashah'hud position (while reciting the Qur'an if
one can sit in this position it's better, facing the Qiblah)
d) to place his hands on his thighs as a sign of respect.
The first few questions were all about Islam, it's outward actions (amal
done with the body) example : the shahadah with the tongue. Then he
asked about Imaan, which are the actions of the heart, example: like the
belief in the destiny everything good and bad is a test from Allah Ta'ala.
In the case of the believer everything is good (khair) for him whether he
understands it or not.
The next question was about Ihsan. Ulamah say it was as if though he
asked '' Tell me about Ikhlas ( sincerity of Intentions)?'' The reply given
was, always keep in mind although we do not see Allah Ta'ala, He sees
us. If we constantly keep this in mind, we will do all actions for Allah
Ta'ala's sake.
As sincerity is a condition for correct Imaan and Islam.
He then asked he about the final Hour (Qiyamah), when it will be? To
which Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم replied ; that I know only as much as
you know. This is because Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم knew that this man
was really Jibriel عليه السلم , and all the knowledge he had was from
Allah sent through Jibriel عليه السلم so they were both in the same position.
Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم did not have the knowledge of the future.
Then he asked for the signs of the Qiyamah. Then Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم
said : ''The slave girl .....'' this was an indication that zina would prevail
to such an extent that some mothers wouldn't know their children (born
in zina) so she will be a servant to her child. this hadith also indictate the
disobedience of the child to the mother especially the daughter.
The second sign was '' the bare footed naked......'' this is a indication to
show that even the poor people of this time will compete with one
another in building tall and spacious buildings. Boasting to one another
about its beauty.
What Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم prophesied 1400 odd years ago is now
slowly becoming apparent. Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم said that these signs
will happen close to Qiyamah... So what have we prepared for it ?
